haha yeah everyday is certainly a school day :)

How's the wedding site coming along. Is it still making a good profit? How has traffic increased over the last 6 months?

The site is coming along really well. All the work I put in at launch has really paid off as I'm ranking really well in Google for all sorts of search terms, some of them nice and generic. I even get visitors who have searched "wedding" so I'm pretty impressed with that.

Traffic-wide, I'm getting around 1500 hits a month, of which 90% are new visitors. I'm currently writing a few pieces for some Scottish suppliers such as table linen, wedding cakes and photbooths of all things, so hopefully witha broader range of content I'll be able to drive visitors up again.

Selling advertising space has worked out quite well too. I've had a lot of smaller companies interested in promoting themselves and I'm not charging a fortune just now so it's good value for them. Once I take over from Scottish Wedding Directory I can start charging £400 a quarter like they do!!

wow. 1200 quid a year for a directory is a great little earner. If you get that established you will be able to go full time on the web.

My only WP website is Tiny WordPress. I started it mainly because I needed an online identity that is built around WordPress. I post some random thoughts that are related to speeding up WP, load time, server side tweaks, etc. I'm okay with the theme used. However, my plan is to make sure it is useful for others too. Currently, I'm probably the only regular visitor to my blog. :)

Best of luck with your blog Pothi. I've added your blog to our links page :)

Thanks Kevin. I noticed it when I was browsing through my Piwik statistics that had a number of visitors from the links page. I feel like I'm in cloud 9. :) Thanks again, Kevin.

DojoBlog is a great looking site, as is your admin forum. Do you have a lot of small content websites that are monetized via Adsense. I am planning on developing some more adsense websites myself :)

Thank you for your kind words. Adsense blows, if you allow my French. I am using it now just to test stuff out, it's the worst paying ad network I ever worked with :D

It blows on certain types of websites. Certain types of websites do well with adsense, others don't. Plus you need to design your website to optimise your ad positions.

I have one website that makes me about $100 a month via adsense. It gets about 10-15 times less traffic than WP Mods so I tried adsense on WP Mods (the blog) and the return was awful. Perhaps readers here are more tech savvy though I did notice that ads were never as targeted as on my other websites.

Unless you have a very large volume website, the trick to making money through adsense is volume. Build lots of small content websites. Even if they only make $10-$20 a month, collectively they will bring you in a lot of money every month.

    Hi, Kevin,
You really helped me a month or so ago, when I'd inadvertently omitted one simple piece of code, which kept my wordpress file from loading. THANK you for that! I now have the site up (at http://jennifercote.org), and still need to tweak more things on the site to get it to work... One thing that's baffling me at this point: HOW do I make the font size bigger for posts and pages?! I've got the showycase theme from themeforest.com. Any ideas? I've spent the whole morning trying little things, searching for "font-size" etc... (Obviously, I'm no genius at css...) Thanks again for any input!!

The easy way is to instal firebug and click on element that you want to edit, then look what is it's name and modify css via ftp/dashboard

    Hi Kevin
My latest website is www.5stahotels.com and I am running mystique theme on it. I am loading booking.com data on it via iframes so it's very hard to track the traffic in google analytics is there a way around this...
am a new member but loving wpmods.com tremendously.

Hi Kevin! First off let me say WOW! I found this site yesterday and have been here ever since, LOL :) I'm loving all the tutorials and especially the 101 useful WP snippets article I found!!

Anyhoo, I've got several sites running WP, but right now what I am most excited and proud of is a theme I've been developing from scratch... which is my first ever!! You can see it live here- still a work in progress - http://christmaspress.com/

I'll be giving it away free this holiday season. I'd love to hear your thoughts
