I came across this image on a blog post on Entrepreneurs Journey. It shows roughly how many people use email and popular social media services such as Facebook and Twitter. It also shows how many messages/updates are made through each one.

It's a great illustration about how important email still is. Apparently all the searches on Google, Yahoo and Bing make up only 1.1% of the number of emails which are being sent during the same period.

Oh I never thought it that way, well seems quite logical since all people have an email address but not all people uses social media sites. And almost all people use their email address everyday, and also all websites/social media sites needs an email address for registration. We may say email addresses are like our ID cards in the online world, the basic block of everything

There have been articles from publications like PCmeg saying that email is dead. This should give them a sense of reality. ;)

I'm surprised that someone who writes for a magazine wrote that...and wrote that 2 years ago. It's bull. Sure, people are using social media services like Facebook more to communicate to friends etc. I've seen that myself as I used to stay in touch with lots of my friends through email and I now stay in contact with many of them via Facebook. Email is still how I contact many friends and it's what I use every single day when working on my website.

To say email is dead is stupid. To say email is being used less is a little more accurate.

There was a recent article by Techcrunch saying email is dead too. But I can't find it.

The first thing I do every morning is check my email. I login to my social media accounts perhaps once a day. But I use email several times a day.
  6. The first thing I do everyday is check my inbox.

I think email is where all serious and important conversations happen, that's my personal opinion though.
