Last month I showed you 3 WordPress Plugins That Make Your Website More Mobile Friendly. Once installed, the plugins direct visitors to a dedicated mobile theme if they are viewing your website on a mobile device.
With more and more people viewing blogs and websites on mobile devices, it’s important to have a mobile design prepared for visitors on the move. Elegant Themes released a great mobile design a few weeks ago entitled Handheld.
Deigned for WordPress 3.0+, the theme redirects users to the mobile design so that your content is optimised on mobile devices. It’s compatible with iPhones, Android phones, Blackberrys and most other smartphones. It works in tandem with your existing design and is only shown when someone views your website on a mobile device.
Coded in HTML5, it comes with it’s own gallery and ajax loading for fast loading times. The background is CSS based so you can change it to any colour through the themes own option area.
I’m sure we will see more great designs being released exclusively for mobile visitors over the next year. Handheld is certainly one of the best mobile designs I have seen so far.
