The Navigator – Location WordPress Theme

Written by on August 8, 2011 in WordPress Themes - No comments

The Navigator is one of the most unique designs I have come across in a long time. The theme was created specifically for travel blogs and location guides.

It uses Google Maps to show to power a worldwide map on the home page. The theme allows you to add places of interest to the map easily. It does this using custom post types. To add a place of interest you simply add a blog post as normal and set the location of the entry underneath – latitude, longitude etc

You can add galleries directly to blog posts. I was a little disappointed with the blog layout. I appreciate that the theme was designed for travel websites and for sites that showcase locations and points of interest; however I would have preferred a traditional blog layout so that visitors are more inclined to leave comments.

The theme supports full image backgrounds, works with the WordPress menu system a logo can be inserted directly via the themes option area.

A single license for The Navigator costs $35 from ThemeForest. I can’t think of any other WordPress themes that offer the same functionality as this theme so I can’t recommend any alternatives. I do believe it would be the perfect design for anyone who is going travelling and wants to keep friends and family updated about their trip.

Thanks,
Kevin
