RoyalSlider – Touch Content Slider for WordPress

Written by on November 9, 2011 in WordPress Plugins - 34 Comments

RoyalSlider Touch Content Slider is a premium WordPress plugin that lets you easily add a cross-device jQuery content slider to your website. It has been tested for use on multiple devices including macs, pcs, iPads, iPhones, Android devices and Blackberry’s. It’s even been tested on the Amazon Kindle!

The plugin is highly customisable. You can set the default height and width of each slide individually, which is useful if for example you want to add small slide shows to posts but larger slide shows to your full page template. You can also add multiple slide shows to the same page with all slide shows having different configurations.

For each slide you can set the main image, thumbnail, HTML content and link URL. The block editor brings up a window that lets you crop the image to the size you need. New slides can be added and deleted from your slider easily through this area.

There are three main options for each slider: general options, user interface options and animated block options.

  • General Options: In this section you can adjust the height and width of your slider and choose from 3 pre-designed skins. You can adjust the way the slider is displayed such as the time delay and alignment.
  • User Interface Options: The speed at which slides transition to the next one can also be adjusted and you can choose to use bullets or thumbnails at the bottom of the slide show for navigation.
  • Animated Block Options: Blocks can be set to be animated as well and you can set the fade in and out effect.

Slide shows can be inserted into posts and pages manually using a short code such as [ royalslider id="1" ] or PHP code such as:

<?php echo get_royalslider(1); ?>

The example below shows a basic example using thumnails instead of bullets for navigation:

When I first started using the plugin I was a little unsure about how it worked. Thankfully, the plugin comes packaged with detailed documentation that walks you through every aspect of using the plugin from installation to embedding to customisation. There really isn’t too much to the plugin though; after you’ve installed your first slider, changed some settings and played around with it for 10 minutes or so you will be confident of creating any type of slideshow you wish.

There are free slide show alternatives out there that allow you to insert image slide shows into your posts and pages. Where RoyalSlider excels is the ability to insert multiple slide shows into the same post or page and the option of configuring each slide show differently. Something that many free slide show plugins lack. It’s also very easy to use (after playing around with it), easy to customise and slides transition from one image to the next smoothly.

A regular license for RoyalSlider retails for $18 from CodeCanyon. More information about the plugin can be found at the link below.

Thanks,
Kevin

there is a slider on the content category or tag?

Terrible plugin and the developer is not helpful at all. Don't be an idiot like me and buy this plugin for $20.

That is a nifty plugin thanks for the review and letting me know.
