Maleika Esther Attawel released a great free design through Smashing Magazine a few weeks ago called Spectacular.
The theme comes in two versions: HTML 4.01 and HTML5. It has a corporate feel to it in my opinion though it does have blog categories and a contact form in the footer, which would make it suitable for a personal site.
It may not be to everyones taste but its well designed and is free to download. More information can be found at the link
