Jane Wells yesterday announced the first beta release of WordPress 3.2. As I showed on Sunday, WordPress 3.2 brings some fantastic new features such as Distraction Free Writing Mode, a new admin interface and a brand new default theme (entitled Twenty Eleven).
Another big change is that Internet Explorer 6 is no longer supported by the platform. Those who use an outdated browser will also see a message in their dashboard that encourages them to upgrade.
I have been particularly impressed with the new default theme Twenty Eleven. It has a very clean design and comes in white and black; which can be selected through the theme option page. In the option area you can also set your sidebar on the left or right or remove it altogether; and the default link colour can be changed too.
I do not recommend using the beta version on a live site as there are still some bugs though if you have time you may want to test it out in your WordPress test area. The file can be downloaded from the link below.
If you do take the time to test it out, please post your view on the new features below

The new WordPress release is looking great. I am particularly impressed with the new admin, although it's still got a few rough edges.
I like the new Twenty Eleven theme, too, but that header image is crazy big! I came up with a quick plugin that allows you to change the size requirements of the header: http://madebyraygun.com/lab/resize-twenty-eleven-header/
Maybe it will be useful to someone.
Cheers!
