Lance Willett announced the first premium themes for WordPress.com a few days ago. Considering how long WordPress.com has been around, I’m surprised that we are only seeing premium themes enter the market in 2011.
Headlines from WooThemes is a magazine design and retails for $45.
Shelf from The Theme Foundry is a tumblelog style design which costs $68.
Users who purchase a premium theme will gain access to a private support forum on WordPress.com for their design. With millions of WordPress.com owners around the world these themes will surely make a lot of money for their developers though I can see all the major theme developers enter the WordPress.com market very soon.
