Oli from WP Lift has launched a fantastic advertising plugin for WordPress called WP Ad Center. It is very easy to use, allows you to add an unlimited number of banner areas and provides detailed statistics for all of your ads.
The plugin lets advertisers purchase advertising on your website using PayPal. Unfortunately, no other payment gateways are available at the moment however it does support 24 different currencies.
After setting your currency, you need to create your ad zones for all the areas you want to sell advertising on. 9 of the most popular ad sizes can be selected or you can set your own custom size.
Advertising packages can be created easily. You can determine the length of the package by time (daily, weekly, monthly etc) or you set a number of impressions. You can’t include more than one zone in a package therefore it’s not possible to create discounted packages for those who purchase ads for 2 or more zones.
The campaign area shows you all of the current campaigns. Campaigns are divided into those that are still running, paused campaigns and those that are finished. You can create campaigns manually through this area too.
Banners can be uploaded or linked to externally. HTML or Javascript can also be used. This is useful if advertisers want to use their own tracking codes for their ads or if you want to integrate Adsense into your zones.
The number of impressions and clicks for each campaign are displayed in a great looking statistics area. The chart can also be downloaded as a .png image file.
Adding ads to your website is very easy. You can add banners to a post or page using shortcode or you can add ads to your website design using PHP or via a widget.
The process of purchasing advertising is straight forward. Advertisers simply need to choose the ad zone they want to advertise on.
They can then choose the package they want to purchase for the zone and upload their banner, enter their URL and banner ALT text. Afterwards the advertisers will be taken to PayPal to complete the transaction.
A single license retails for $49 and lets you use the plugin on one website whilst a multi license retails for $79 and permits the plugin to be used on 5 websites. Both licenses give on year of support. A developer license is also available for $129. That comes with lifetime support and lets you use the plugin on an unlimited number of websites.
WP Ad Center costs about the same as the popular ad plugin OIO Publisher. OIO publisher boasts a lot more options and features such as inline ads, text ads and subscriptions though WP Ad Center is much more user friendly. The whole process of creating, maintaining and tracking ads through WP Ad Center is much easier and this is without doubt it’s greatest strength. It’s certainly one of the best advertising solutions available for WordPress.
